Judge Lloyd swears in new officers for local Republican women’s club

HOUSTON – Judge Roberta Lloyd swore in a new group of officers on Dec. 11 for the Braes Republican Women – the oldest club of its kind in Harris County.

Judge Lloyd has presided in Harris County Civil Court-at-Law No. 4 since being unanimously appointed to the bench by Commissioners Court in 2004. She won her first full term in 2006.

“It’s always an honor to be a part of these events and to help these groups install new leaders,” said Judge Lloyd, who is seeking her second full term in 2010. “It was a special honor to take part in this meeting since Braes Republican Women is celebrating 50 years in existence this year. Organizations like this are the backbone of our party and of the conservative movement. Republican women make things happen and this club is a great example of how people coming together to be engaged in the political process enhances our entire community.” Judge Lloyd welcomes invitations to such events. Successful fall for Judge Lloyd

HOUSTON – Republican Judge Roberta Lloyd enjoyed a successful fall push for support and funds as she officially began her 2010 re-election bid.

Judge Lloyd, who has presided in Harris County Civil Court-at-Law No. 4 since being unanimously appointed to the bench by Commissioners Court in 2004, mounted an aggressive effort to raise campaign funds that culminated with a successful Oct. 15th event at The Grove in Discovery Green.

“This is just the beginning,” said Judge Lloyd, who won her first full term in 2006 and is seeking a second term in 2010. “We have a long campaign season ahead, but we’ve gotten off to a fast start. I would like to thank my supporters for signing up again and I look forward to more people joining the team. My supporters know we will need to run a spirited campaign in 2010 and I will need them by my side the whole way.”

Judge Lloyd has also been heartened by the incredible support Republicans have given incumbent judges as they have gathered the necessary signatures on the judicial petitions required for ballot placement.

“Conservatives have made it known in a loud and clear voice that keeping our incumbents on the bench in 2010 is a top priority,” she said. “They, like many in the community, know we need to talk to the people of Harris County about the important work done in our civil courts. That takes support and teamwork.”
